Group Exhibition: NAR 周縁の距離 Distance of the Rim
BUoY
Mar 7 - 9,2025
We are pleased to announce the launch of the new project, NAR and our first exhibition, Distance of the Rim. Eunoia and Pause One have decided to jointly launch a new project called "NAR". The first exhibition project of this project will be "Distance of the Rim" and will be held at BUoY(49-11, Senju-Nakacho, Adachi-ku, Tokyo, Jp) from Friday, March 7th to Sunday, March 9th, 2025. The event information is summarized below.
・NAR
NAR is an art project jointly managed by Eunoia and Pause One. In recent years, there has been a global boom in contemporary art. Various exhibitions and art fairs have increased their numbers in the domestic and international art scenes, and major events continue to have a strong presence. On the other hand, small and medium-sized exhibitions and art fairs are still in a difficult situation, which affects not only galleries and art fairs but also artists. As those who could have become popular at the center of the art scene become more radiant, we are forced to turn our attention to the center of the scene, and alternative existences are in a state of mist. In a society overloaded with information, if only what is at the center of the market remains for posterity, aren't we limiting the possibilities of art ourselves? Isn't art a more expansive and free existence? We shared these challenges and launched this project to create a flatter format. We aim to remain independent and flat without being trapped by existing large systems.
・Distance of the Rim
We will hold "Distance of the Rim" as an exhibition-style fair based on the concept of NAR. Six galleries will gather in Tokyo and exhibit works by artists recommended by each gallery. The venue, BUoY, is an alternative space converted from a former public bath and a former bowling alley and will be the venue to propose the new art exhibitions we aim for. The basement floor, which has a skeleton space of over 300 m², will mainly exhibit large-scale works and installations by artists. Here, instead of simply exhibiting the works of artists selected by each directors, we will direct the entire floor and exhibit them in a new configuration. By combining the works of
multiple artists and viewing the works in an exhibition environment that is not a white cube, we will provide a different viewing experience than before. In addition, on the second floor, which is based on flat white walls, we will exhibit works that fit the collection better, proposing artworks that viewers can enjoy up close. By combining exhibitions on these two floors with different characteristics, Distance of the Rim will be a unique experience.
