Marta Ravasi

Marta Ravasi (born in Merate, Lecco, Italy, 1987), lives and works in Milan, Italy.
Her practice is focusing on working with oil on small size canvas. She is exploring the materiality of painting through the study of traditional motifs. The brush strokes are visible and defined, the texture can be light and delicate or think and structures. The directions of the painting builds light and the structure of the colors defines not only the subject itself, yet the atmosphere and environment surrounding it. Ravasi said she is “…trying to challenge the concept of the painting and the traditions of still life.” and she keeps experimenting on the canvas with always new approaches.
